Rooted in the Itch
This installation explores the sensation of an itch that begins subtly—an irritation that grows, festers, and spreads beneath the surface of the skin. Visually rooted in the language of fungi and natural decay, the work captures a feeling of uncontrollable bodily rebellion—something invasive, something alive.
The painted fungal forms burst from the canvas in vibrant, layered textures, suggesting both beauty and discomfort. Their organic structures mirror the unpredictable spread of sensation—at once mesmerizing and repulsive. Branches rise from the ground, like nerves or veins, tangling upward toward the panels, connecting body and growth, mind and obsession.
Here, the itch becomes more than physical: it’s psychological. A slow madness, a spiraling inner tension that claws from within and won’t let go. It tears at the boundary between self and skin—inviting the viewer to question where discomfort ends and identity begins.
